Specification for Timber Treatments
W.M.T.P. operatives are to take up sufficient floorboards to provide access to the sub-floor timbers. All accessible sub-floor timbers and the underside of the floorboards are then to be chemically spray treated with Emulsion Aqueous. The previously removed floorboards are to be re-fixed, the floor surface made clean and spray treated with Multi-Purpose Organic Aqueous.
All accessible sections of the staircase are to be spray treated with Multi- Purpose Organic Aqueous. Please Note: As chemical treatment cannot be successfully applied to painted timbers, it will therefore be necessary for the Client or his Contractor to remove paintwork including white wash or emulsion paints, before W.M.T.P. operatives commence the spray treatment of timbers infested by Wood Borers.
All accessible ceiling joists, common rafters, purlins, eaves-plates, summer beams and other roof timbers are to be brushed clean of surface dust and they are then to be spray treated with Multi-Purpose Organic Aqueous. Please Note: Any insulation materials that would restrict treatment are to be removed from the roof space by the Client or his Contractor prior to the commencement of spray treatment.
The exposed surfaces of all timbers to be spray treated with Multi-Purpose Organic Aqueous.
TREATMENT 5 (WET ROT)
W.M.T.P. operatives are to remove all structurally unsound floorboards, floor joists and other sub-floor timbers. Defective timbers are to be cut back to a minimum of 500mm beyond the last visible signs of fungal decay. All remaining timbers are to be chemically treated in-situ with Emulsion Aqueous. All replacement floorboards and sub-floor timbers are to be new, pre-treated timbers, All joinery timbers, skirting boards, architraves, door linings, etc. which are specifically referred to in this report or in the accompanying report on Rising Dampness, are to be dealt with similarly.
TREATMENT 6 (DRY ROT)
After removal of fruiting bodies (sporophores), mycelium and hyphae strands, and infested timbers, spray brickwork with fungicidal wash and replace infested timbers with pre-treated timbers. Drill and inject a parallel line of holes to form a toxic box to protect other timbers remaining in-situ.
